Ty Myers in Tuscaloosa: date, time, and who is opening

Ty Myers plays Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Brent Cobb and Benny G open. The venue’s own event page lists a 7:30 PM show time and 6:00 PM gates.

Both of those numbers being published is worth noting. Plenty of venues announce a show time and stay quiet about gates, which leaves you guessing how early to turn up. Here you get both from the people who run the building.

You may see other times. One large ticketing site lists 8:00 PM and one streaming service lists 7:00 PM. Those are metadata feeds, not the venue. When a feed and a venue disagree, the venue wins. Plan on 7:30 PM.

The venue sits on 15 acres on the banks of the Black Warrior River, downtown, about a mile from the University of Alabama campus. It is owned and operated by the City of Tuscaloosa, and Danny Wimmer Presents books the shows. It opened in April 2011 as the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and was renamed in November 2023, as the local paper reported at the time. That rename explains something practical. A lot of the reviews and parking advice you will find online are filed under the old name, and some third party listings still have not caught up.

Parking changed this year: the Trestle Lot is closed

Parking for the Ty Myers Tuscaloosa show works differently from last year, and this is the most useful thing on the page.

The Trestle Lot has been closed since June 1, 2026. The venue’s directions page leads with the notice in bold. The closure is for Phase III of the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Jack Warner Parkway Improvements Project.

This is not a one-night event note. The City of Tuscaloosa announced the Phase III work, and the venue’s current parking page states that the Trestle Lot closed beginning June 1. The show is in September 2026, so use the current venue parking plan rather than an older map that still shows the lot.

Free parking that does exist:

• Tuscaloosa Intermodal Facility, 2230 7th Street. A free four level deck with a free shuttle to the venue. This is the one to use.
• Bama Belle Lot, 1 Greensboro Avenue.
• Parker-Haun Park, 180 Greensboro Avenue.
• On-street public parking around downtown.

Parking that looks available but is not. The lots immediately east and west of the venue need pre-arranged credentials. So does the City Club Lot. The Box Office Lot is ADA parking only, and it needs a state issued accessible credential rather than just a placard on the mirror.

Two details come only from the venue’s parking map image, not from any of its text. There is a zone south of the venue marked inaccessible due to construction. And public lot entry runs northbound on Greensboro Avenue with the exit southbound. That is the kind of one way routing that costs you ten minutes if you learn it at the wrong end of the street.

Locals give consistent advice on this. On the Tuscaloosa subreddit, someone asking about parking for a show at this venue got a simple top reply: park at the intermodal facility downtown and take the free shuttle. Another regular put the on-site situation bluntly, saying parking beside the venue is very limited and the deck is about half a mile away. That is attendee experience rather than venue policy, but it lines up with what the venue’s own map shows.

If you are being dropped off, rideshare pick-up and drop-off is near the main gate entrance on Jack Warner Parkway. Buses and limousines use the circular driveway past the main gate.

The venue publishes two different bag rules. Here is the bag that passes either way

Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater has two live pages about bags, and they do not match. This is not a stale page left over from an old season. Both pages are current and both are specific. They simply disagree.

The General Info and FAQ page says clear bags must not exceed 12 x 6 x 12, allows a one gallon clear freezer bag, and lists printed bags among the things that are prohibited.

The Venue Policies page says clear bags must be no larger than 12 x 12 x 8. It allows clear re-sealable bags up to one gallon, with a limit of two per person. It also says logos are allowed, but only on one side of the bag.

So three separate things conflict: the dimensions, how many gallon bags you may carry, and whether a bag can have printing on it.

I am not going to guess which page is right. The useful answer is the overlap, because a bag that satisfies both pages passes under either rule. Carry a plain clear bag with no logo, around 12 x 6 x 12 or smaller, or one clear gallon freezer bag. A small clutch of about 4.5 by 6.5 inches is fine under both pages, with or without a strap.

The reason to be careful rather than optimistic is what happens if you are wrong. Gate staff work from one laminated card, and you have no way of knowing which page it came from. This venue has no re-entry and states that non-permissible bags must be removed from the grounds. So a refused bag is not a minor delay, it is a walk back to a parking deck half a mile away while the opener plays.

There is one genuinely good backstop here. The venue rents Guardian Lockers on site. That gives you a lawful place to put a bag that does not pass, which most venues on this tour do not offer at all.

Cameras, umbrellas, and the things that actually get stopped at the gate

The camera rule cannot be answered in advance, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. The Venue Policies page permits point and shoot cameras with no removable lenses. The Cameras section then states that cameras are allowed on an event to event basis, subject to the approval of the artist or performer. No approval has been published for this date.

Both venue pages agree on the part that catches people out. The case is never allowed. Camera cases, camera bags and binocular cases are all refused, even when the item inside is permitted. Cameras with removable lenses or flashes, video cameras and other recording devices are prohibited outright. Your phone is the safe plan.

Umbrellas are strictly prohibited. The show is planned rain or shine, and the venue’s own advice is to bring a parka or rain jacket. In September in Alabama that is not a hypothetical.

Other things worth knowing before you pack, all from the venue’s own lists:

• Chairs of any kind, folding or otherwise.
• Coolers, picnic baskets, and outside food or drink.
• Aerosol cans, including sunscreen and bug spray in spray form.
• Musical instruments, skateboards, drones, weapons, laser pointers and noise makers.
• Gifts for the artist, which is an unusual and very specific rule.
• Posters and signage, unless the artist has approved them.
• Strollers are generally not permitted, though storage is sometimes available.

One line about drinks is easy to misread. The venue says that all drinks except unopened water or soda bottles have to be discarded when you exit the building. That is a rule about leaving, not about bringing anything in. Outside food and drink are not allowed through the gate.

Everyone goes through security screening with bag checks and magnetometers. The dress code is simply shirt and shoes. Smoking, vaping and chewing tobacco are confined to designated areas at the top of sections 201 and 205.

How big it is, and why you will see three different numbers

This venue publishes two capacity figures, and both are correct.

From its own general information block: 7,289 fully reserved, and 9,009 with a general admission standing floor and reserved balcony. Same building, two configurations. Reserve every seat and it holds about 7,289. Open the floor to standing and it holds about 9,009.

That is why outside sources vary so much. One reference work says 8,410. A visitor guide says 7,470. Press coverage rounds to 8,000. Every one of those numbers sits between the venue’s two real figures, which is exactly what happens when someone averages or guesses at a venue with two setups.

A local on the Tuscaloosa subreddit made the same observation from the other direction, noting that seating for every show is arranged slightly differently here. The same thread is worth reading if you are choosing seats. Several people said there is not a bad seat in the place. The stage is described as very high, which helps sightlines whether you are seated or standing. One attendee at five foot two reported no issues in the pit. That is attendee opinion, not a venue claim, and it is worth what attendee opinion is worth.

One listing to distrust. A visitor guide that gives the capacity as 7,470 also prints the venue’s street address as 1900 Jack Warner Parkway. The venue’s own pages give 2710 Jack Warner Pkwy on three separate pages. Two errors on one listing is enough to set it aside.

A Thursday show, and the football weekend you are missing

September 10, 2026 is a Thursday. In a college town that shapes the evening, since most of the room has work or class the next morning.

The more useful scheduling fact is what this date avoids. Tuscaloosa hotel pricing is driven by home football Saturdays, and Alabama is away at Kentucky on September 12. The next home game is Florida State on September 19.

That is a real saving if you are travelling in. On the Tuscaloosa subreddit, a local warned a visitor to book lodging months ahead for this venue’s next show on September 18, because it lands on a home game weekend. They quoted rates of 300 to 400 dollars a night. The Ty Myers Tuscaloosa show is eight days earlier and lands on an ordinary weeknight instead. No other stop on this tour is in a college football town on a week with no home game.

On tickets, one warning from the venue is worth repeating because it is specific. The venue states that tickets bought anywhere other than its box office or Ticketmaster may not be honored, and that the City of Tuscaloosa is not responsible for counterfeit tickets. The venue is also entirely cashless, for tickets and concessions alike. The box office is open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and offers a 10 percent military discount for active duty and veterans with identification.

Sunset is before the set, and when the night ends

Sunset in Tuscaloosa on September 10, 2026 is at 7:03 PM. The Ty Myers Tuscaloosa set starts at 7:30 PM. So it is already dark by the time the music begins, which is the opposite of the Camdenton show four nights earlier, where the set started at the same minute as sunset.

That has two practical effects. The whole evening happens after dark, so the walk back to a parking deck is a walk in the dark, which is another argument for the free shuttle. And the temperature drop that makes September evenings pleasant will have already started before you sit down.

For the finish, nothing published sets a curfew here. From a 7:30 PM start with two openers, the headline set would usually end somewhere around 10:00 to 10:30 PM. That is an estimate from the running order, not an announced time, so treat it as one.

Two closing notes on weather, because they matter more here than at most stops. The venue states plainly that the Amphitheater is not a lightning or tornado safe facility. It posts weather updates to its social accounts, so check those on the day. If severe weather is genuinely moving through, your car or a building is the safe place, not your seat.
