Ty Myers is 19 years old. He was born on July 12, 2007, just outside Austin, Texas. He turned 19 on July 12, 2026, and he turns 20 on July 12, 2027.

His full name is Ty Wenston Myers. The middle name rarely appears anywhere. It comes from his songwriting registration with ASCAP.

That is the whole answer. The rest of this page exists because getting it right turns out to be harder than it should be.

Why other sites give a different age

Ask how old is Ty Myers and you will find at least four different answers. They are wrong in three distinct ways, and the difference matters.

Some are simply out of date. His own official site still describes him as “the 18-year-old” and carries no date on the page. That was true when somebody wrote it. It stopped being true in July 2026. Country to Country called him “the 17-year-old”, which was correct a year earlier still.

One has the wrong day. Famous Birthdays lists his birthday as July 13, 2007 and files him under its July 13 listings. That is one day off. It matters more than a day usually would, because a birthday reference site is exactly where people go to check this.

One has the wrong month. Apple Music’s artist page gives September 21, 2007. This one is strange: Wikipedia’s footnote for July 12 points at Apple Music, and Apple Music says something else.

And at least one is not arithmetically possible. A local news post described him moving to Nashville “at age 22”. Nobody born in 2007 has been 22.

How this page settles it. Four independent sources agree on July 12, 2007, including Wikipedia citing ASCAP. Two outliers disagree with each other as well as with the majority. So July 12 is the answer, and every age on this page is written with a date beside it, so you can check the arithmetic yourself rather than trusting that somebody updated the sentence.

What people usually mean when they ask

Most people looking up a musician’s age want a number. With Ty Myers, often they want something else.

His age comes up constantly in fan discussion, and almost always as a challenge. On a Reddit thread about The Select, one listener wrote that he sings about subjects he is “too young to have experienced” and pointed out he was “not even old enough to drink”. On a thread about Heavy on the Soul, another said the writing sounded like “a 30 something rather than an 18-19 year old”.

The artist knows. Rolling Stone’s profile of him carries the subheading that he would like it if you looked past his age.

So here is the evidence rather than an argument.

He writes the songs, and mostly by himself. On The Select he holds 14 writing credits across 16 tracks, and wrote twelve of them alone. On Heavy on the Soul he solo-wrote 11 of 17. You can see his full writing credits, album by album on this site.

Some of the songs are much older than he is famous. He told Rolling Stone he started writing at age 8, and that several songs on The Select were written when he was around 12. A song people hear as the work of a 19-year-old may be the work of a twelve-year-old.

He has been working stages for years. By 11 he was playing full sets with his father in central Texas bars and dance halls. That is a strange amount of road experience to have before a driver’s license.

None of that makes the criticism unreasonable. It does explain the gap.

Where he is from

He was born just outside Austin and raised in Dripping Springs, Texas, a town about 25 miles west of the city. Both places come up when people search for his hometown, and they are not competing answers. Dripping Springs is the town. Austin is the nearest city anyone would recognize.

He grew up on his family’s cattle ranch, which has been in the family for more than six generations. He is a sixth-generation member of it. Songfacts puts the ranch at 450 acres, though that figure appears in only one place, so treat it as approximate.

Two things worth clearing up, because search suggestions keep raising them. He is not from Oklahoma. He is not from Macon, Georgia, which is almost certainly a tour stop bleeding into the question.

And a bigger one: Ty Myers is not Tyler Myers. Tyler Myers is a professional ice hockey defenseman, and the two names get tangled together constantly in search results. If you have found a wife, a hockey team or a birth year in the 1990s attached to this name, you were reading about somebody else.

The family that made him a musician

This is the part of his background that gets the least attention and explains the most.

His father is a working singer-songwriter who played dance halls and bars around central Texas. He is the reason Ty started, and the reason a pre-teen was allowed on stages at all. Billboard reports the two first sang together at Nutty Brown Café & Amphitheatre near Austin, a venue that has since closed. By 11 they were doing full performances together, working songwriter swaps to get a foot in the door.

His uncle is Dean Sams, a founding member of Lonestar. Billboard and Rolling Stone report this independently, which makes it about as solid as a family claim gets.

Another uncle plays piano in George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band. Sources spell his name two ways. Billboard and Songfacts both write Ronnie Huckaby; Rolling Stone writes Ron Huckabay. The relationship is agreed, the spelling is not, so both are noted here rather than one being quietly chosen.

His grandmother played piano in church. His sister Jocelyn is his tour photographer, and shot the photograph on that Rolling Stone profile.

He chose to be homeschooled and gave up baseball and football to focus on music. Tearing knee ligaments playing football as a high-school sophomore is what settled it. Beyond that, very little about his schooling is published, and this page does not fill the gap with guesses.

What he has done, by age

Ages are given beside dates on purpose. A bare list of years is exactly the thing that goes stale.

One thing this page will not tell you

How tall he is. The question gets asked often enough to show up in Google’s own suggestions, with several variations. No credible source publishes the figure. Rather than repeat a number from a celebrity-stats site that invented it, this page leaves it out.

The same rule covers his personal life, which is a firm line here and not an oversight. He is 19.
