The venue is a parking lot, and that is not an insult

The Lake Tahoe Amphitheatre is a temporary structure, built in the south parking lot behind the Harveys parking garage and taken down again at the end of each season. It has been going since 1992, when the Gipsy Kings opened it, and it moved to its current spot in the parking lot in 2005 when Another Planet Entertainment took over running it. Capacity is reported as 7,500 for reserved shows and 9,300 for general admission, though neither the operator nor the casino publishes a figure on its own site, so treat both numbers as estimates.

Knowing that explains a lot about the experience. The seating layout is rebuilt every summer, which is why third-party seating charts disagree with each other. There is no permanent box office building. And the venue has had five names in thirty years, which is the single biggest reason people cannot find reliable information about it.

Doors at 6:00, show at 7:30, and the listings that say otherwise

Doors open at 6:00 PM and the music starts at 7:30 PM. That comes from Another Planet Entertainment’s event page, and it matters that it is theirs: Another Planet operates this venue. This is the operator publishing its own times, not a reseller estimating them. Ticketmaster lists 7:30 PM as well.

You will also see 7:00 PM, on the local tourism board’s event listing and on at least two resale sites. That is a half hour earlier than the operator says. On a night where the temperature is dropping and the parking garage may hold you afterwards, half an hour is not nothing, so plan around 7:30 and treat the venue’s own page as the one to check again closer to the date. Another Planet notes that all doors and show times are subject to change.

Ty Myers headlines a three-act bill with Brent Cobb and Benny G, so 7:30 PM is when the first support act begins, not when he walks on. His own stage time has not been published for this date.

The bag policy contradicts itself, in writing

This is worth reading carefully, because the venue’s own venue information page gives two different answers on a single page.

Under the heading “What is your bag policy?” the limit for a clutch or wallet is 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Under “What items are allowed in the venue?”, further down the same page, small purses and wallets are permitted up to 10 inches tall by 14 inches long. Caesars publishes the larger figure on its own site, so three sources back 10 by 14 and one backs 4.5 by 6.5. Both are live. If your bag sits between the two sizes, take a clear one and remove the question.

Anything oversized goes into a paid locker. Bags are checked by wand on the way in.

Parking costs real money, and the free option is better

Valet at Harrah’s and Harveys is priced by event: $32 on a standard summer concert night, rising to $42 for high-volume or sold-out shows. Self parking is charged separately and varies by season. Caesars Rewards tiers complicate this further, with Platinum and above parking free, which is why online reports of the price range from nothing to $45 for what sounds like the same night.

Then there is the exit. You are issued an exit pass on the way in, which you need to leave, so keep it in the car. After the show, parking exits and valet may be held for up to 60 minutes to let pedestrians clear. The venue’s own parking page recommends parking somewhere else or using rideshare.

The better answer is Lake Link, a free on-demand shuttle covering the South Shore including the casino corridor at the state line. It runs until 11:00 PM on Saturdays in summer, and August 22 is a Saturday. You book it in an app the way you would a rideshare, or call 530-800-4438. The vans hold nine to twelve people, take strollers, and are wheelchair accessible on request. For a venue where driving costs $32 and an hour of your evening, a free ride home is the most practical thing on this page.

It gets cold, and that surprises people every year

Lake Tahoe sits at about 6,200 feet, and the drop after sunset is sharper than visitors expect. Residents describe August overnight lows between 40 and 50 degrees, and several note that late August runs slightly cooler than July rather than warmer.

The mechanism is what makes it relevant to a concert. Most of the daytime warmth at this altitude is direct sun rather than warm air, so the temperature falls quickly once the sun is off you. Sunset in late August comes shortly after the 7:30 PM start, which means the cold arrives partway through the show rather than after it, when you are standing still.

Chairs are banned, so your options are a blanket or something you can wear. A jacket or hoodie is the safer choice of the two.

Where this date sits in the run

Stateline is the third of three nights in a row, after Avila Beach on Thursday the 20th and Modesto on Friday the 21st, with Brent Cobb and Benny G on all three bills. Modesto is sold out. This one is not.

It is also comfortably the largest of the three rooms. At a reported 9,300 for general admission it is roughly triple The Fruit Yard in Modesto, and several times the size of the Avila Beach lawn. If the three-night stretch appeals but you want the biggest production of the three, this is it. After this the tour leaves California and Nevada for the Colorado run that finishes at Red Rocks.
