Ford Amphitheater is the best documented venue on this tour. The operator publishes a full policy page, the city publishes sound data, and two daily papers cover it closely. That is good news, with one catch: the details are spread across five pages of the venue’s own site, and the single most repeated fact about the place is out of date.

Gates at 6:00, show at 7:30

All times here are local Mountain. The venue states that explicitly in its FAQ, which is more useful than it sounds for a tour crossing four time zones.

One aggregator lists an 8:00 PM start. Ignore it. The 7:30 PM figure is corroborated by two independent listings, and 6:00 PM is the venue-wide gate time reported when the amphitheater opened.

That 90 minute gap between gates and downbeat is not dead time here, for a reason covered further down.

The bag policy is three sizes, not one

This is the most common thing people get wrong at this gate, and it is not really their fault.

Ford Amphitheater allows three kinds of bag:

The problem is that the widely read local guide to this venue says only that “clear bags or small clutches no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches are permitted.” That is accurate about clutches and silent about everything else, and it is the version that gets repeated. A reader who trusts it leaves a perfectly legal 12 by 6 by 12 clear tote in the car.

Bring the clear tote. It is allowed, and it holds considerably more than a clutch.

Everyone goes through walk-through metal detectors at the north and south gates, and all bags are subject to search. Give yourself extra time, which the venue asks for directly.

What you can and cannot carry in

There is no re-entry. The venue permits it only in designated emergencies and severe weather. With a 6:00 PM gate and an 11:00 PM outside limit, that makes this a five hour commitment to whatever you carried through the detector.

Water is the practical one. One factory sealed bottle of 24 ounces or less per person is allowed, and so are empty plastic bottles you can fill inside. Metal bottles and flasks are not. No outside food or drink otherwise, with a narrow exception for small factory sealed items for allergies or medical needs.

On the lawn you can bring a blanket up to 8 feet by 8 feet. Chairs are judged on metal and legs rather than on being chairs: soft side seat backs, seat cushions and stadium seats with no metal are fine, and anything with legs or metal is not. The venue links a photo guide, which is worth thirty seconds if you are unsure about the one you own.

Small umbrellas are allowed, specifically ones that fold to about the size of your forearm. Rain gear is fine. Large umbrellas are not. This is worth flagging if you are also at Grand Junction the night before, where umbrellas are banned outright and ponchos are the recommended alternative. Two Colorado venues, two different answers, one night apart.

Strollers and wagons are prohibited. Coolers, cans, tarps, selfie sticks, signs on poles and lawn chairs with legs are all out too.

Parking, and the part about leaving

The venue publishes five parking options. It describes all of them in terms of arriving.

Two caveats on that table. The Phil Long lot is only open for some shows, so check the event listing rather than assuming. And accessible parking is free in Lots 1 and 2 for vehicles with a valid placard.

Now the part the official page does not cover.

Locals talk about the exit from the Bass Pro lot more than anything else about this venue, and they do not agree. One attendee reported about an hour to get out. Another pushed back and said they walked out with everyone else and cleared the lot in ten minutes at a different show. Both are real accounts of the same lot, which probably means the answer depends on the night and where you parked in it.

The consistent advice, from people who go often, is more specific than “arrive early.” Back into your space, and park near the end of a row. If you are using the free street parking on Spectrum Loop, arrive 60 to 90 minutes before gates. You are trading pre-show time for a clean exit. Bass Pro has also been reported at capacity for higher demand shows, and some attendees were told only certain sections of that lot are sanctioned for concert parking.

Rideshare out is the option with the worst failure mode. One attendee described booking a 10:30 PM pickup, having the driver cancel, and waiting until nearly midnight while the app kept returning no available drivers. Surge pricing on the way out is routine. This is a Saturday headline show, which is the busiest case. The free Compassion International shuttle exists precisely for this and runs until 60 minutes after the show ends.

Tailgating is not permitted in the lots, and there is no overnight parking.

The 11:00 PM cutoff, and why articles still say 11:30

Almost everything written about this venue for a general audience repeats a Saturday cutoff of 11:30 PM. That number is real, but it is from 2024.

The Colorado Springs City Council’s original approval of the project set run times of 10:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 PM Friday and Saturday. The venue has since operated under annual noise hardship permits. The Gazette reported in May 2026 that the permit covering this season allows amplified sound above city code until 10:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday.

August 29 is a Saturday, so 11:00 PM is the operative figure for this show.

A note on why the permit changed hands: it was issued to the nonprofit VENU Arts and Culture Foundation this year, after a state supreme court ruling that for-profit companies were not eligible for exemptions under Colorado’s noise pollution law. The city also publishes historical sound data from previous seasons.

For planning purposes, treat 11:00 PM as a ceiling rather than a prediction. A 7:30 PM start with one headliner and two openers does not usually approach it, and attendees report shows here finishing around 10:00 PM. If you are booking a ride or a babysitter, plan around 10:00 and hold 11:00 in reserve.

Six thousand feet, and a sunset that lands on the downbeat

Colorado Springs sits at about 6,000 feet. Late in August that produces warm days and genuinely cool evenings: highs easing from the low 80s toward the upper 70s across the month, and overnight lows around 54 to 58 degrees, rarely dropping below the upper 40s. Bring a layer. You will want it by the encore, not at the gate.

The timing is the interesting part. Sunset at the end of August falls right at 7:30 PM, which is exactly when the show starts. The venue was originally called the Sunset Amphitheater, it faces the Front Range, and its own marketing sells the view. Local guidance is to arrive early enough to watch it. That is the honest argument for using the 6:00 PM gate rather than rolling in at 7:15.

Rain is a declining risk through the month. The chance of a wet day falls from about 36 percent at the start of August to roughly 23 percent by the end. Shows are rain or shine regardless.

If you are on the lawn, a few things attendees mention. It is synthetic turf, and VENU has said it uses an evaporative cooling system that cuts surface temperature substantially. Seating is general admission, so arriving early matters for a clear sightline, and there are a couple of light poles to plan around. The crowd tends not to pack tightly, which wastes space and is worth knowing if you are trying to fit a group. Sound from the lawn is consistently described as good, and there are screens.

If you are in reserved seating, the spacing is reportedly generous, verified in one local guide by a six foot five attendee. Ticket prices there have historically run roughly $60 to $150 in the third level, $100 to $200 in the first tier, and higher in the pit, though those are past-season ranges rather than prices for this date.

You can stand. There is no dedicated standing area and you are expected to stay by your seat rather than pressing toward the stage, but standing and dancing in place is normal and attendees consistently report a relaxed room.

Where this date sits in the run

August 29 is the middle of three straight Colorado nights: Grand Junction on the Friday, Colorado Springs on the Saturday, and Red Rocks on the Sunday. Brent Cobb and Benny G are on all three bills. The run arrives in Colorado from Stateline at Lake Tahoe the previous weekend.

The three rooms are very different. Grand Junction is the intimate one, and neither its operator nor the city publishes a capacity at all. Ford Amphitheater seats 8,000, a figure the venue publishes itself and that the city, AEG and local press all match. Red Rocks the following night is larger again, and considerably higher up.

Ford Amphitheater opened in August 2024 at a cost of around $90 million, in the Polaris Pointe development on the far north side of the city. It was built as the Sunset Amphitheater and renamed in June 2024 when a group of Colorado Ford dealers bought the naming rights. VENU, the Colorado Springs company behind it, built the venue explicitly so that the region would stop having to drive to the Denver area for large shows. Which is a small irony worth enjoying, given that this tour plays Red Rocks the very next night.
